Fish, scorpions, and God's perfect love

~Tuesday Thoughts~

"“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[a] a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:11-13 (NIV)

Some of our earthly fathers are amazing or at least good. Still, no father is perfect. And some might not even be good fathers at all. And maybe for some of you, if you ask for a fish he would give you a snake.

But God is the perfect Father who loves you like crazy. His love knows no measure. And while He is not a machine that just pops out presents when you "pray enough," He does delight in giving good gifts to His children.

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." James 1:17 (NIV)

What is a gift God has recently given you?
