Fellowship with Christians

Fellowship with Christians is important - really important. Everyday we're surrounded by the world - maybe at home, probably at school, definitely in the media. And we need someone (or someones) to keep us in check, to see that we are still on the path we should be on. We need that reminder that life is about so much more than surviving another day. And we need the encouragement that we through faith can give one another.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Acts 2:42

How about you? Do you have close relationships with other Christians? Do you keep each other in check and support one another?

  1. I've always hung out with lots of other Christians, but until recently I haven't been in a friendship where someone really truly challenges me spiritually on a regular basis. I've had friends where once in a while we'll discuss spiritual matters, but that deeper friendship has been missing. I've searched for it, but many people today run as fast as they can the other way if you start pursuing discipleship, mentoring, accountability, etc. Thankfully God gave me Ruth, a friend who was in need of a home for a few months. She and her 4 kids moved in with me while waiting to join their military husband/dad overseas. We were able to read the Bible together, hold each other accountable to doing our daily devotions, pray together, for for each other, etc. This is what a friendship with another Christian should be able to be like. Now she's on the other side of the ocean and we have to use skype to encourage each other once a week. But it's something! Seek that out Sofia! Don't give up until you find a friend who will really challenge you spiritually, who isn't embarrassed to pray out loud with you, who isn't afraid to ask you if you're reading your Bible, who helps you memorize God's Word, etc. That's what friendship is about!

  2. I'm glad to say I have one already. We're pretty far away, so we e-mail each other. Thanks, D.!
Glad you met Ruth. I hope you stay in touch throughout the years.
