Spending time with the Best Friend

~Friday for Friends~

"...The pastor at church said that if you want to grow as a Christian, you have to let the Lord into every area of your life. Otherwise it's like inviting someone into your house and making him stand in the corner the whole time. If you never invite him to sit down or eat with you or do any of the things you'd do with a real friend, then you'll never get to know him." - Katie, A Whisper and a Wish

"'Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.'" Revelation 3:20 (NIV)

Can you spend time with the Lord today?

Come to Him

~Tuesday Thoughts~

Tired. Too much stress. Not enough sleep. Trying to push through, but could you remind me where the finish is?

"“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”" Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

While our lives tire us out, let us run to Christ!

Move

~Monday Movies & Music~

Audio Adrenaline has a cool song, "Move." Check it out! Here are the lyrics

"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”[a]" Romans 10:14-15 (NIV)

Is God calling you to share the gospel with someone?

A Whisper and a Wish by Robin Jones Gunn

~Saturday Stories~

Typical Christy: "No! No! Why can't we live here! Why didn't anyone tell me the dairy was so far away? ... Maybe Dad's job will fall through, and we'll have to go back to Wisconsin. What am I thinking? I want to live here, not Wisconsin!"

Christy's family is moving to California, the place she absolutely loved getting to know during the summer. But nothing is turning out as she planned. Christy has to start her school year away from all the friends she made over the summer, and she feels all alone. Soon the popular girls in school take Christy in, but just how much will their friendship cost her?

A Whisper and Wish explores serious topics: moving, good and bad friendships, eating disorders, and more. Christy learns that no matter where she is, she can trust God to be there with her. A Whisper and a Wish is the second in the Christy Miller series.

Trouble (but take heart!)

~Thursday Thoughts~

"“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”" John 16:33 (NIV)

Recently I got the chance to see people I don't see that often anymore: my parents. It was an extreme blessing. But then they left again, and it hurt so much. I know this is definitely not the hardest trouble anyone has ever had, but it still hurts to miss someone so much.

What has been hurting you? Can you lean on God for help?

Lauren Daigle has a great song, "First." Here are the lyrics.

"'But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.'" Matthew 6:33 (NIV)

It's hard. It's hard.

"It's okay to be broken"

~Saturday Stories~

"It's okay to be broken. You know that, right?" -Mr. B, Angel Eyes

"It's like that first step. You have to take that first step, and then, if you want Him to, God can help you with the rest of it." -Renee, The Masquerade

"The key to everything is knowing that God loves you, and he shows you that love through Jesus. If you really want to believe that, you need to get to know Jesus better - not just in your imagination, but from who he is ... God has a book..." - Dr. Peter, Sophie's World

"Whatever His purpose, I understand something now I didn't before. A righteous God isn't bound by time. He has an eternity to make things right. In this moment I know. Even if He never reveals His reasons to me, even if He never explains why He allowed my mother and Ali to die, I'll still fight against the darkness so His light can spread." -Brielle, Angel Eyes

How about you? Have you ever felt guilty for being broken? Have you taken the first step and asked God to help with everything? Have you taken the time to get to know Jesus? Can you tell God that, even if He does not explain everything to you, you will still follow Him?
